Each year, White Chapel Cemetery hosts a Memorial
Day Concert and Memorial
Day Service in honor of WWI Polar Bear (May), and a
VJ Day Service (August),
and pays tribute to our Military and Veterans on Patriot
Day (Sept. 11) and on
Veterans’ Day (Nov. 11). All are free and open
to the public.
Our Memorial Day Concert is the Sunday of Memorial
Day weekend at 2 p.m. in
front of the Temple of Memories. Our Memorial Day Service
honoring our WWI
Polar Bear Veterans takes place on every Memorial Day
Monday at 11 a.m. in
front of the Polar Bear Monument.
Our Victory Day in Japan Service is every first Sunday
of August at noon when
White Chapel hosts the Gold Star Mothers’ V-J
Day Ceremony to commemorate
and honor our WWII veterans.
The Gold Star Mothers and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) participate in a parade towards the Four Freedom Memorial and lay wreaths at the foot of the memorial.
On Patriot Day – Sept. 11 White Chapel displays over 300 American Flags in recognition of those who died on 9/11 and for those fighting in the War on Terror. On Veterans’ Day (Nov. 11), White Chapel displays over 300 American Flags in recognition of our veterans of all U.S. wars who have served their country (weather permitting).
