| The stately grandeur of the Temple
of Memories Mausoleum is most impressive when seen across
the calming waters of our appropriately named Mirror
Lake. One cannot view its magnificent façade,
mirrored in the vibrant blue water, without comparing
it to the other awe-inspiring temples throughout the
world from which our founder, Clarence Sanger, drew
his inspiration. A majestic example of classic architecture,
it is a sanctuary of snow-white marble and bronze, built
to endure through the ages. The Temple is a veritable
museum of sculptures, exquisite stained glass windows,
mosaics, paintings, pediments and carved relief panels.
Entering the Great Hall, one can’t help but be
a bit dazzled by the magnificence of its architecture,
the breath-taking beauty of its appointments. High above,
wrought in golden bronze, is the Window of Destiny,
symbolic of the eternal mystery of human life. The three
center panels show the Three Fates—Clothe, who
spun the thread of life; Lachesis, who took the strand
and fixed its length; and Atropos, who cut it with her
shears. Around these central figures are the Zodiac
signs. The inspired work of stained glass artisans is
everywhere. Included are the first and second Immortality
Windows, and the nine grisaille windows depicting Hope,
Justice, Forgiveness, Temperance, Truth, Purity, Knowledge,
Love and Liberality. Equally impressive is the window
in the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery Alcove, based
on an interpretation of Rudyard Kipling’s beautiful
poem “L’Envoie.” Its abstract design
is a representation of the creative life force that
remains alive after we leave the physical plane. The
Temple of Memories is also home to our Allen Digital
Computer Organ—believed by many authorities to
equal or surpass the tonal performance of traditional
pipe organs. All in all, this architectural feat is
a must-see, attracting people from all over the world
to experience and draw inspiration from its magnificence.
While many have chosen the Temple of Memories as their
ultimate place of rest, there are still options available,
including:
Single and Companion Crypts
Single and Companion Cremation Niches
Private Estate Rooms – can include both crypts
and niches
A wide selection of areas to choose from throughout
